Makeup artist Emily Maret had an idea of doing a “Good Vs. Evil” photo shoot with her friend Carla at the University of Lethbridge. This being my first photo shoot with a model, I was all for it! To light the scene I used two small Yongnuo speedlights along with an umbrella and Westcott Apollo softbox. To capture the main image I knew I would have to place my lights in frame, so I made sure to take a few shots of just the background (without Carla in the frame) so I could composite the two images together in post-production. I wasn’t a fan of having the lush green grass in the background, so I decided to extend the stairs to compliment the grungy/dark atmosphere created by the added smoke and floor cracks.
